Homemade Cheese On Toast

This vegan cheese is easy and quick to make. It literally takes minutes!

Ingredients

1T extra virgin olive oil

125ml / 1/2 cup plant milk

1T cornflour (also known as corn starch)

1T nutritional yeast

1/2t salt

2 slices bread

2 slices of a large tomato


Equipment

Jug

Saucepan

Whisk

Wooden spoon


Method

  1. Put the oil, milk, cornflour, nutritional yeast and salt into a jug. Whisk with a hand whisk until it is mixed well.

  2. Pour this into a saucepan. Heat the pan, on a medium heat. Stir this occasionally at first, then stir continually once it is starting to warm up.

  3. Cook the cheese until it is the consistency of thick custard, this should take about 5 minutes. Pour the cheese onto 2 slices of bread, add the tomatoes and a little more cheese.

  4. Grill for around 5 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown. Serve immediately.
